Lightroom Tip - Simple Folder Structure
An often asked question is How should I structure my folders in Lightroom?
One approach is to create a structure around the shoot date. This is good, but can get quite confusing unless extensive key wording is used.
A simpler approach is to create a main Photos folder with three sub folders called: Locations, Objects and People.
Simple Lightroom folder structure
I have found that I can place
any of my shoots or individual images into a sub-folder
with a descriptive name under one of these three headings.
Before this I spent a long time structuring my images by
event and date. A date based naming convention can then be
used if required within the sub folders.
Lightrooms Metadata date browser
Lightroom has an excellent metadata date browser so strict
filing by date is not as important as it used to be.
Hope you find this useful.
