Compare Mode Indicator Diamonds
IIf you are using Lightrooms' Survey mode (key N), to narrow down your images, you will probably want to use Compare Mode (C Key) to make a final selection.
I have always found Compare Mode hard to use as I cannot
easily determine which image is the Candidate and which is
the currently selected image.
Once you have the image candidates narrowed down press the
C key to enter compare mode. You will now have two images.
One labelled Select and one labelled Candidate. See below.
The Filmstrip will have highlighted all the images you have
been surveying. It is not easy to see which image is the
candidate and which is the selected image.
Now look at the film strip and you will notice that there
is a small diamond in the top right-hand corner of both the
candidate and the selected image. The candidate diamond is
white, whilst the selected image has a black diamond.
As you use the arrow keys to
move back and forwards, selecting different images, you
will see the white diamond move with your selection. The
black diamond will change if you first select the Candidate
image on the right hand side of the main viewer and then
choose a new candidate from the filmstrip.
