Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Camera Backpack

I have been using the Lowepro Mini Trekker backpack for about a year and can report that it is a very capable small camera backpack which is both water resistant - as long as the zips and flaps are closed - and comfortable to wear.

The backpack has the capacity to take an SLR with up to a 80–200mm zoom and between 4 and 6 additional lenses; you trade off lenses for other gear. It's interior size is ample (11"W x 5"D x 14.5"H or (28 x 12.5 x 37 cm). It can easily fit in an airline overhead locker and is ideal for traveling abroad.

There is an integrated tripod holder, and a host of attachment loops for accessories and lots of pockets. I found that the large external pocked was great for carrying my various travel documents, grey cards, notebook etc.

Lowepro MIni trekker internals

  • Built in All Weather Cover - keeps gear protected against extreme weather

  • Holds an SLR w/ attached 80-200mm f/2.8 lens, additional body and 4-6 more lenses

  • Ergonomic harness features wide, padded shoulder straps and a sternum strap

  • Quick-release integrated tripod holder

  • Tough, Water-resistant outer fabric

The backpack is good at holding and transporting a lot of camera gear and is very well constructed. I have a couple of issues with the way that you access the bag in wet weather. To get your gear out you have to lay the bag on it's back which means that the bag inevitably gets wet and muddy. This I can live with, but a bigger problem is that the bag has to be opened right up to the weather to get your gear out. Things get wet quite quickly and you just have to be careful.
That said I would recommend Lowepro anytime as the quality is excellent.

I have no association with Lowepro. It's just a very good product. I would score it 4 out of 5.

Good luck and good shooting.
